The literacy rates in Uganda show a notable gender gap, with male literacy at 85.3% and female literacy at 71.5%, creating a 13.8% difference. This highlights the ongoing need for educational reforms and investment. With only 3.2% of GDP allocated to education, and an education index of 0.479, access to higher education remains limited. Despite these challenges, approximately 2.5 million Ugandans speak English as a second language, showcasing efforts toward broader communication and integration.
